The Mystery of the Missing Label Ingredients
Condividi
If you’ve ever looked at a supplement label and felt like you needed a PhD in chemistry just to understand a single scoop of powder, you’re not alone. We believe you should know exactly what you’re putting into your body—and why.
One of the questions we get is: "If my scoop is 7 grams, but the label only shows about 1.5 grams of minerals, what is the rest of the stuff doing in there?"
It’s a fair question! To the naked eye, the math doesn't seem to add up. But once you pull back the curtain on how minerals actually work, it all makes perfect sense. Let’s break down the 7g scoop and see why every milligram matters.
The Two Parts of Your Label
To understand your pot, you have to look at two different sections:
- The Nutritional Information Table: This shows the "Active" minerals, the actual amount of Potassium or Magnesium your body gets to use.
- The Ingredient List: This shows the "Raw Materials", the actual powders we pour into the mixing vat to get those minerals into a scoop.
Where do the 7 grams go?
If you add up the "Amount per Serving" for the minerals on our label, it totals roughly 1.44 grams. Here is the honest breakdown of how that 1.44g of "active" mineral becomes a 7g scoop:
| Category | Approx. Weight | What is it? |
| Active Minerals | ~1.44g | The elemental Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, etc. |
| Mineral Carriers | ~3.00g | The "Citrates" and salts that hold the minerals. |
| Flavor & Refreshment | ~2.50g | Malic Acid, Citric Acid, Juice Powder, and Flavouring. |
| The Tiny Extras | < 0.06g | A tiny bit of sweetener (Sucralose) and trace minerals. |
| Total Scoop | 7.00g | The complete Mineral Republic experience. |
1. The "Heavy Lifters": Mineral Carriers
You’ll notice our label says things like "Potassium (from Potassium Citrate)." In nature, minerals like Potassium and Magnesium are "social" elements—they don't like to be alone. If you had a jar of pure, "elemental" potassium, it would be a highly unstable metal. To make it a safe, shelf-stable powder, we have to bind it to a carrier.
We use Citrates (minerals bound to citric acid). Why?
- Assimilation: Your body recognizes citrates easily. It’s like giving the mineral a "VIP pass" to get through your digestive wall and into your bloodstream.
- Gentle on the Tummy: Some cheaper mineral forms (like oxides) can cause stomach upset. Citrates are much kinder to your digestion.
The Weight Factor: These carriers have weight! For example, to give you 1,000mg of pure Potassium, we have to include about 2,800mg of Potassium Citrate powder. That "missing" weight isn't filler; it’s the delivery truck that brings the minerals to your cells.
2. Why so many Acids and Flavors?
About half of our scoop is dedicated to the flavor profile: Malic Acid, Citric Acid, and Lemon Fruit Juice Powder. You might wonder, "Is that too much?" The truth is, minerals on their own taste... well, like salty rocks and pennies. Potassium and Magnesium are naturally quite bitter and metallic.
To create a drink that you actually want to consume every day, we use organic acids:
- Malic Acid: Naturally found in apples, it gives that "tart" kick and helps with energy production in your cells.
- Citric Acid: Found in citrus fruits, it balances the saltiness of the Himalayan salt.
- Lemon Juice Powder: Provides a natural mouthfeel and a hint of real fruit nutrients.
Health Effects: These acids are processed by your body as natural energy intermediates. They are "neutral" in terms of health—meaning they aren't there to change your biology, but they don't cause harm. They simply turn a "cup of salty water" into a refreshing lemonade.
3. The Sweetener (Sucralose)
We use a tiny amount of Sucralose to bridge the gap between the tart acids and the salty minerals. We use it because it doesn't spike your blood sugar, making our electrolytes friendly for almost any diet (including Keto). Because it is so powerful, we only need a few milligrams—less than the weight of a single grain of rice!
Transparency is our Formula
At Mineral Republic, we don’t hide behind "secret blends." We want you to see that 7g scoop for what it really is (even though anyone who has tasted our electrolytes knows that it is a unique blend).
- A precise dose of high-quality minerals.
- The natural carriers needed to absorb them.
- A calculated balance of fruit acids to make it taste great.
No "empty" fillers, no sawdust, and no secrets. Just science and salt, served in a 7g scoop.
